And If You Don’t Know, Now You Know

Neddy Bly
2 min readMar 3, 2022

I ain’t trading my youth for no suit and jacket
I ain’t giving my freedom for your money and status

These are keys. But once you enter the corporate world, you start losing them all the time, friends find them for you, return em. But you do it so much you get disoriented, and finally lose them. You had the answer you sought, but you lost it. Spoiler alert: losing it makes you lose it.

So don’t say I’m getting older
’Cause I’ll say it when I do
’Cause everybody I know, everybody I know
Is growing old, is growing old too quickly
And I don’t wanna go
No, how am I supposed to slow it down
So I can figure out who I am?

I assure you, the above section is positively banging when you hear it in its original “final” form. Note how this is a different form. The information, like a soul, lives on.

And I ain’t trading my dreams for no 401k
And I ain’t giving this fire for a cold, cold heart
So don’t say I’m getting colder
’Cause I’ll say it when I do
’Cause everybody I know, everybody I know
Is growing old, is growing old too quickly
And I don’t wanna go
No, how am I supposed to slow it down
So I can figure out who I am?

Now the song has you. It has awoken a truth inside you. How did a song do that? It contained the keys.

Some of us surviving
Some of us just roaming
Some of us just hoping the world will move more slowly
And some of us alive
We’re all gonna die one day
Yeah some of us surviving
Some of us just roaming
Some of us just hoping the world will move more slowly
And some of us alive
We’re all gonna die one day
Yeah, some of us surviving
Some of us just roaming
Some of us just hoping the world will move more slowly
Some of us alive
We’re all gonna die one day
’Cause everybody I know, everybody I know
Is growing old, is growing old too quickly
And I don’t wanna go
No how am I supposed to slow it down
So I can figure out who I am?

If you have any questions about careers, or callings, the answers are in the keys above. Ah, do you know how to work with keys?

If you seek advice about how to handle any other shit sandwich life throws at you, the answer might be in the bible. Might not. But you’ll be changed if you really, sincerely, try to find out.

The single question to answer for yourself, now (if it doesn’t hurt to much) is

What do we not want to want?

One love.
